Prevent Front Wheel or Fender Contact with Tractor Components

IMPORTANT:

After modifications were made to wheels, tread width, steering stop, etc., it needs to be checked whether wheels or fenders come in contact with tractor components. The same applies when retrofitting additional equipment in the area of the tractor front part.

Perform the following test carefully. Contact may cause damage.

CAUTION: Do not start the engine during the test. Carry out the steering without motor assist.

  1. Jack up front of the tractor so that the axle can be swiveled back and forth to stop.

  2. Swivel the axle all the way to the left and turn the steering to the right as far as it will go. Check the clearance of wheel and fender to tractor components.

  3. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. Check the clearance of wheel and fender to tractor components.

  4. Swing axis to the right and repeat the process.

IMPORTANT: To avoid contact, adjust the steering stops so that sufficient clearance is maintained. See “Notes on Adjusting the Steering Stop” and “Adjust the Pivoting Fenders and Steering Stop” for the relevant front axle in this section.

Do not set steering stops too close, as the clearances may decrease under load.

It must be ensured that the steering stops can be screwed in to a depth of at least 10 mm (0.4 in.).

NOTE: If operating conditions permit, broaden the tread width to avoid contacts with tractor components.
