Changing PTO Stub Shaft
IMPORTANT: Implements can be operated at 540 rpm only if the power input never exceeds 56 kW (75 hp). Operating PTO at lower speeds under heavy load could damage PTO. NOTE: The 1000 rpm stub shaft has 21 splines for heavy PTO loads while the 540 rpm stub shaft has 6 splines for loads requiring less than 75 PTO horsepower. Rotate the ends of the snap ring to align with flat surface of the shaft. Remove snap ring (A) and pull out PTO stub shaft (B). Thoroughly clean and lubricate stub shaft splines. Install shaft into housing. 540 rpm shaft - rotate shaft back and forth while installing, to ensure shaft is properly seated in housing; continue to push shaft in while installing snap ring. 1000 rpm shaft - rotate shaft back and forth while installing until engagement is felt. NOTE: Shaft is correctly engaged when shaft turns with high effort. Install snap ring in groove to retain PTO stub shaft. NOTE: A flattened area on the stub shaft facilitates removal and installation of the snap ring. IMPORTANT: Clean bore (C) thoroughly when installing PTO shaft for 1000 rpm use. Damage to PTO may result if bore is not clean. |
