Changing Engine Oil and Filter

IMPORTANT: Change engine oil every 125 hours if diesel fuel has a sulfur content greater than 0.5 percent.

Run engine to warm oil. Stop engine. Remove crankcase drain plug (A). Replace plug after oil drains out.

Remove filter (B). Remove old packing and clean filter mounting surface. Apply a thin film of oil to new packing and install new filter. Hand-tighten filter. Do not overtighten.

Refill crankcase with seasonal viscosity grade oil. (See Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolant Section.) 1

Crankcase with Filter-Capacity -7610 19 L (20 qt)
7710 and 7810 24 L (25 qt)

Start engine and check for leaks.

Stop engine. Recheck oil level.

1If John Deere TORQ-GARD SUPREME PLUS-50 engine oil and a John Deere filter are used, the oil and filter service interval may be extended by 50 percent to 375 hours.
