Tightening Wheel Bolts

causym CAUTION: Avoid possible injury. Never operate tractor with a loose rim, wheel, hub, or axle.

IMPORTANT: Sleeve bolt tightening procedure must be followed to prevent possible hub damage.

1. Tighten sleeve bolts (A).

2. Tighten wheel bolts (B) and (C) to 600 N·m (445 lb-ft).

3. Drive tractor approximately 100 yards (100 m) and repeat tightening procedure.

4. Tighten bolts after operating tractor 3 HOURS and again after 10 HOURS . Tighten inside wheels before installing dual or triple wheel hubs.

NOTE: A special tool, JDG679, available from your John Deere Dealer, can be used to tighten inner wheel (less outside weights) with outer wheel installed.

Scraper and Severe Applications:

Use procedure above except retighten all cap screws to 600 N·m (445 lb-ft) every 2 HOURS until all cap screws remain at 600 N·m (445 lb-ft).

Retighten every 100 HOURS .
