IMPORTANT:
Avoid fuel system contamination. Do not pour fuel directly into filter without prefill cup. Injection pump could seize.
NOTE:
Prefill cups must be used to make sure fuel is properly filtered during prefill. They are different in size and come with each filter. Use correct size cup and discard after use.
NOTE:
Pour fuel slowly to allow smooth fuel flow into the element. This will eliminate having to dump out excess fuel once element is full.
5.
Using prefill cup (A), fill new filter element with fuel, draining any excess into suitable container.
6.
Remove prefill cup and discard.
7.
Lubricate gasket and install filter onto base. Tighten 3/4 of a full turn after gasket contacts the base. Connect water-in-fuel sensor.
8.
Repeat above procedure for secondary filter.
9.
Start and run engine at fast idle for 2 minutes. If engine won't start or dies, see BLEEDING FUEL SYSTEM. If engine will not start after bleeding fuel system, prime the system as indicated in RESTARTING ENGINE THAT HAS RUN OUT OF FUEL.
