Cold Weather Starting
CAUTION:
Avoid personal injury and damage to the engine. Inject fluid only while engine is turning. Starting fluid is highly flammable. Follow safety information on the container. Do not carry empty or extra ether cans inside cab.
Observe cautions and starting procedure. (See Starting the Engine.)
Turn ignition switch key to the start engine. After engine begins turning, press ether switch (A) to inject starting fluid. Release the key after engine starts.
Hold ether switch for two or three seconds after engine starts. Repeat this step until engine runs without faltering.
IMPORTANT:
Idle the engine at approximately 1200 rpm with no load for one to two minutes to assure adequate lubrication. Idle the engine longer when operating at temperatures below freezing.
NOTE:
During cold weather start-up, engine speed will be limited to approximately 1550 rpm until normal operating temperature is reached.
