CAUTION:
Avoid the possibility of personal injury or death:
After lengthy period in storage, open hood and check/remove any accumulation of dirt or debris.
Be sure everyone is clear of tractor and attached equipment.
Start engine ONLY from operator seat.
Do not start engine by shorting across starter terminals. Tractor will start in gear if normal circuitry is bypassed.
Engine starting with shift lever(s) in gear indicates a malfunction of starting circuit. Repairs should be made immediately by your John Deere dealer.
1.
Make sure left-hand reverser is in:
-
PowrQuad-Plus (PQ+) and AutoQuad-Plus (AQ+)
; NEUTRAL position

AutoPowr
; PARK position
2.
PowrQuad-Plus (PQ+) and AutoQuad-Plus (AQ+)
; Put range shift lever in PARK position.

3.
Make sure SCV levers are in NEUTRAL position.
4.
Make sure PTO is disengaged.
5.
Put hand throttle in slow idle position.
6.
Sound the horn.
7.
Depress clutch and brake pedals.
IMPORTANT:
Avoid starter damage. Do not operate starter more than 30 seconds. Wait at least two minutes before trying again.
8.
Turn key switch to engage starter. Release key when engine starts.
NOTE:
Engine speed will be limited until operating temperature is reached.
On-board electronics may require slightly longer cranking times during engine startup.
