Measuring Track Slip-Manually

NOTE: Track slip can be easily determined with the performance monitor or vehicle monitor, if equipped with optional radar unit. See % Slip Touch Switch in Controls and Instruments section.

1. Mark drive wheel.

2. With the tractor working, mark a starting point on the ground.

3. Follow tractor and mark ground where drive wheel completes 10 full revolutions.

4. At same working speed, go back with implement raised. Line up the drive wheel mark with ground mark, or make a new mark on the drive wheel.

5. With tractor proceeding in a straight line with implement raised, count the revolutions of the drive wheel between the two marks on the ground to the nearest 1/4 wheel revolution.

6. Use the second count and the chart to determine slippage.

7. Adjust ballast to give 2 to 5 percent slippage.
