Using a Safety Chain
CAUTION:
Avoid possible accident and injury by using a safety chain on drawn equipment. Use a safety chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than the gross weight of equipment. Provide only enough slack in the chain to permit turning.
Route safety chain (A) through retainer (B) and attach to the drawbar support or other specified anchor locations.
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT use safety chain for towing or possible damage to tractor, implement, and drawbar may result. Safety chain is provided only for transport.
Attach and check operation of trailer brakes if equipped.
IMPORTANT:
SLOW DOWN when transporting heavy implements.
Drive slowly enough to maintain safe control. Shift to a lower gear for hillsides, rough ground, and sharp turns, especially when transporting heavy equipment.
On icy or graveled grades, be alert for skids which could result in loss of steering control.
Never coast down hill.
Use caution when operating tractor at transport speeds. Reduce speed if towing heavy loads. Heavy towed or rear mounted implements may start swaying in transport. Consult towed equipment operator's manual for recommended transport speeds.
