Servicing the Batteries |

NOTE: Factory installed batteries are maintenance free and require no additional service. However in certain conditions such as long periods of operation at high ambient temperatures or excessive engine cranking, may require adding water. See label on battery.
Battery gas can explode. Keep sparks and flames away from batteries. Use a flashlight to check battery electrolyte level. Never check battery charge by placing a metal object across the posts. Use a voltmeter, load tester or hydrometer. Always remove battery ground cable (A) first and connect it last. Do not let disconnected ground terminal touch metal surface. Lift cover (C) to access batteries (B). Remove cap screws (D) from side and bottom of panel and cap screws (E) to remove retaining bracket. Slide batteries from battery box. |

CAUTION:
Never use compressed air to clean batteries. It can cause a build up of static charge leading to potential injury.

2. Disconnect negative terminals (B) from batteries. 3. Disconnect positive terminals (C) from batteries. 4. Clean terminals and battery posts using a baking soda and water solution. 5. Remove any corrosion with a terminal brush. 6. Rinse with clean water and air dry. 7. Connect positive battery cables and apply thin coating of grease. 8. Connect negative battery cables and apply thing coating of grease. 9. Connect negative cable to tractor frame. 10. Close covers. NOTE: Keep all battery terminals (A) clean and tight. NOTE: For replacement batteries follow manufacturer's recommendations. |
