Connecting and Disconnecting High Flow Hydraulic Hoses

causym CAUTION: Push transport lock touch switch (A) on SCV TouchSet monitor before attaching or detaching implements to prevent implement movement and possible personal injury.

IMPORTANT: Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly.

Be sure hose ends are clean prior to use to minimize hydraulic system contamination.

Clean dust covers. Push sleeve coupler forward to remove dust covers and expose coupler ports.

NOTE: Remote cylinder couplers are designated "I" through "V". "I" is the left coupler.

Check to be sure connection on coupler matches cylinder travel direction required.

When using SCV with single acting cylinders, plug hose into extend side of coupler (B).

Move SCV switch to neutral position with no time flow "commanded". Push coupler sleeve forward and push hose firmly into receptacle.

Pull coupler sleeve back to lock hose coupler into receptacle.

Lower implement to the ground before disconnecting cylinder hoses.

Push coupler sleeve forward to release extend (D) or retract hose (E).

Pull hose back from receptacle and replace SCV protective dust cover.

NOTE: When high pressure oil is trapped in the scraper hoses which can prevent male hose tip from completely engaging into the female coupler.

When the SCV is used for the first time, the hose can pop back out.

This is caused by pressure in the hydraulic hoses if scraper was disconnected from tractor when:

1. Scraper was in a raised position without using transport locks.
2. Scraper was sitting for a period of time with sun heating the oil in the hoses.

When attaching an scraper that has hydraulic hoses under pressure, follow steps in order.

1. Start the tractor and allow it to run for a few minutes.
2. Shut tractor engine off and allow engine to come to a stop.
3. Immediately turn the key switch back on to the run position.
4. Cycle the SCV lever(s) on the armrest to extend and retract positions. Doing this with the engine off will relieve the internal pressure in the SCV couplers.
5. Connect the scraper hoses to the tractor couplers. Pull lightly on the hoses to ensure full engagement was achieved.
6. Start the tractor and flow oil in both directions to allow couplers to unseat the poppets on the male hose tips and enable proper operation of the SCV.
7. If problem persists, contact your John Deere Dealer.
