Harvesting Safety Tips
-
Always keep elevator swung to the
rear of the harvester while waiting for the transport unit in the
field.
-
Do not let engine idle for more than
5 minutes. See “Idling Engine” in the next block.
-
Always use caution when harvesting
near trees, utility lines, and utility poles. Make sure both topper
and elevator are clean.
-
Raise crop dividers when nearing the end of a row to avoid damaging
the harvester.
-
Be careful when cutting in unfamiliar
fields.
-
Always harvest with engine at full
throttle.
-
Always check gauges periodically during
the harvesting operation.
-
When clearing chokes from the harvester, always allow components to come to a complete stop before
engaging the harvesting functions in the forward or reverse mode.
-
Always keep fire extinguisher filled
and charged.
-
Always stop engine before cutting
out vines and other chokes.
