Harvester Safety

  1. Before performing any type of service or repairs, always turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position and then remove it to prevent an inadvertent start-up.

    Disconnect the battery cable and hang the DO NOT WORK sign in the operator's station.

    IMPORTANT: Before mounting machine, ensure that no one else is working under or on machine. Ensure that all operators blow the horn several times before starting the machine. Ensure that any persons near the machine know that when the horn blows, the machine is about to be started, and to move away as soon as possible.


  3. Use safety stops on cylinders when servicing or repairing harvester.
  4. Be aware of the harvester clearance heights before transporting. Take into account trailer bed height.
  5. Keep your hands away from moving components during service.
  6. Lower all components to the ground when parking the harvester.
  7. When harvesting, only allow the operator on the harvester.
  8. Keep riders off.
  9. Use the horn as a warning before starting.
  10. Stay clear of moving parts during operation.
