Elevator System

CQ280251-UN-28MAR08
The elevator system delivers the cane to a container system
either to the rear, left or right hand side of the harvester. The
perforated floor allows loose material to fall through, which is an
additional feature of the cleaning process.
The elevator has a high clearance to minimize the damage caused
by various cane containers that may come into contact with the underside.
The height of the elevator is adjustable from the cab by two hydraulic
cylinders supporting the elevator. The elevator swing table swings
left and right a total of 180°.
The elevator is made up of twin lengths of roller type chain,
connected by slats, which are bolted to the chain links. The conveyor
is driven by orbital motors, mounted on both sides that are fully
reversible to clear blockages.
To maintain correct chain tension, the drive motors are mounted
in an adjuster box that allows chain adjustment. The chain on each
side is driven by a sprocket, which is mounted directly to the drive
motor shaft.
The idler chain alignment sprockets are adjustable to allow
correct clearance between the elevator chain and floor. The correct
alignment is when the elevator chain just touches the wearstrips as
it leaves the sprocket, yet does not allow cane to get under the slats.
The elevator must be in the UP position before swinging or damage
will result to the air louvers or basket and may damage the elevator
support cable and primary extractor housing. Before lowering elevator
make sure it is directly behind machine. Additional lowering is gained
by raising the basecutter lift cylinders.
Replacement wear kits are available from John Deere dealerships.
