Changing Final Drive Oil
NOTE: This service should be done every 100 hours if using 85W/140
oil or 250 hours if using 80W/140 synthetic oil, but when the cane
harvesters are frequently self transported between fields, traveling
at high speeds for longer than average periods, or operating for time
periods longer than 10 hours per day, it will be necessary to change
the final drive oil more frequently to avoid breakdown and damage
to the final drive components.Oil analyses are the most effective
method to determining the oil change interval.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the oil being used is the recommended oil.
-
Make sure oil is warm before changing.
-
Turn final drive until drain plug (C) is at the 6 o'clock position,
as shown.
-
The level plug (B) will be at the 9 o'clock position.
-
Remove all plugs and allow oil to drain into an appropriate
container. Dispose of oil according to employer and government guidelines.
NOTE: Be careful not to lose the brass seals located on plugs. They
are necessary.
-
Install drain plug (C).
-
Add oil through fill port (A). Allow time for oil to settle
when filling because gear oil is thick and takes time to settle.
-
Continue filling final drive until oil flows out of level plug
(B).
-
Install plugs.
