B - Dirt
-
Performance decreases as fan blades wear. Blades should always
be replaced before they are badly worn. Always be sure to have a balanced
set of four new blades before changing worn blades. See Service Section
for procedure.
-
Vibrations in the extractor area of the harvester should be
monitored continuously. As blades wear, the fan will become unbalanced
and will vibrate. Running an unbalanced fan can cause severe damage
to the harvester. Change all four blades if the set becomes unbalanced.
-
When using the variable speed primary extractor, set the RPM
of the fan when entering a new block of cane. The proper setting allows
debris to be extracted without the billets. Pay attention to the sound
the billets make as they hit the extractor hood. This should indicate
if fan speed is too high.
-
Debris should always be removed from fan blades immediately
to get maximum cleaning ability.
-
Built-up dirt and cane debris should be cleaned regularly from
hood and wear ring.
-
Keep rotating extractor hood ring lubricated.
NOTE: The fan speed will change as harvesting conditions change.
For example, the amount of moisture in the cane, and the cane variety
and yield will all affect the fan speed. To maintain proper cleaning
in all fields, fan speed should be monitored periodically throughout
the day.
