Retracting or Engaging Precutter Knives

causym CAUTION: Take care when moving knives in cutting position. Due to an obstruction, it could occur that the knives do not reach this position immediately. ALWAYS CHECK before operating that all knives are well positioned.

IMPORTANT: Retract and engage precutter knives several time after each working day to prevent knives jamming.

When using baler with knives in no-cutting (retracted) position for a long period, it is recommended to remove them all to prevent them from getting blunt (see "Replacing Precutter Knives" in "Service" Section).

To retract or engage precutter knives, proceed as follows :

Switch ON monitor.

Press PRECUTTER key once to activate the retract mode. Digits (A) are then displayed on LCD screen and a short sound alarm is emitted.

Act on selective control valve lever to retract precutter knives. The knives can be moved in cutting (not retracted) or no-cutting (retracted) position.

Press PRECUTTER key to go back to the pickup mode. Digits (B) will then be displayed on LCD screen and a short alarm emitted to confirm that pickup mode is activated.

Digits (B) disappear and digit (C) will be displayed on LCD screen if the knives have been kept in cutting position (not retracted). If knives have been kept in no-cutting position (retracted), no digits will be displayed on LCD screen.

NOTE: If PRECUTTER key is pressed longer than 4 seconds, the precutter reverse mode will be selected. See "Reversing Precutter Rotor" in this section.
