Checking Knife Bolt WearIMPORTANT: Always use genuine John Deere special knife bolts. Replace bolts: After they have been removed and reinstalled five times. If they are visibly distorted. If thread locking compound is no longer serviceable or has become inefficient due to water, oil, earth or mud. When head has worn flush with bearing surface of knife. When diameter of bolt neck has worn by 3 mm (0.12 in.). If cracked. Check bolt head/shank interface (A). Examine bolt threads. If bolt is damaged due to interference (B). Correct interference.
