To help prevent injury caused by tractor rollover when handling round bales on a slope, avoid side slope travel whenever possible. Drive up slope to pick up a bale and down in reverse. Move bale as close to the ground as possible.

To help prevent injury caused by being struck by a bale rolling down a slope, never use the tractor or loader to stop a rolling bale.

Approach bale with arms open, straight out or tilted straight down. Use the straight down position to rotate bale for stacking on its end.

Close arms and roll back bale so that loader is carrying the bale tilted back 15° to 30°.

When handling bales for the first time or bales of different sizes, raise the bale 150 mm (6 in.) above ground and check the grasp on the bale.
