It is necessary to check play of final drive flanged axle bearings at the first 100 hours of operation, every 500 hours and at the end of each harvest season. For rice combines which work with tracks, the track is not assembled on the final drive, but on the front axle. In this case it is only necessary to check play after the first 500 hours.

When checking the adjustment, it is necessary to remove the front wheel of the machine and push the flanged axle (1) up and down. If there is play, adjust bearings as follows:

1. Drain final drive housing oil through drain screw (2).

2. Remove final drive housing from machine.

3. Remove bearing housing (3) and shaft seal (5) of drive pinion (4).

4. Install drive pinion bearing housing (3), without shaft seal (5). Take care of assembling the same

shim (6). Tighten bearing housing screws (7) to 60 Nm (44 lb-ft).

5. Remove flanged axle nut cap (8) and bolt (10) or key (according to final drive housing assembled in the machine).

6. Check nut (9) torque, it should be 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) for Standard final drives and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) for Heavy Duty final drives.

7. Rotate flanged axle (1) several times. Using a lead hammer, lightly tap both sides of flanged axle to seat bearing cups.

8. Check flanged axle (1) rolling drag torque through nut (9), it should be 7 to 13 Nm (5 to 10 lb-ft). Adjust rolling drag torque, if necessary, by loosening or tightening nut (9).

NOTE: If necessary loosen nut (9). Make sure to loosen bearings also. If necessary use a lead hammer and lightly tap both sides of flanged axle to seat bearing cups.

9. Repeat this procedure until the correct torque is obtained.

10. Tighten nut (9) until one of the grooves matches with the hole of flanged axle (1) and install the locking bolt (10). Seal and install nut cap (8).

11. Remove drive pinion bearing housing (3) and install shaft seal (5).

12. Install drive pinion bearing housing (3), taking care to use the same shim (6). Tighten bearing housing screws (7) to 60 Nm (44 lb-ft).

13. Repeat this procedure with the other final drive.
