Operating Characteristics of Vacuum Meter

A47087-19-31JAN01
The operating band (gray area) shows the relationship of
the vacuum meter with the desired population (indicated by the horizontal
line).
The breadth of the band is due to:
-
Different seed sizes and shapes
-
Variations in planting rates
-
Soil conditions
In the majority of cases, the planting precision of the vacuum
meter does not decrease, unless the maximum planting speed is surpassed.
Maximum speed in relation to vacuum meter is often the result
of ground conditions. Uneven surfaces can knock the seeds out of the
seed disk and shake up the row units, seriously affecting seed placement.
Calibrating tire pressure correctly can help to improve seed placement
performance on uneven surfaces.
NOTE: Vacuum charts only serve as parameter for initial adjustment.
There might be variations according to seed type, size, density and
treatment.
