Use Graphite Powder
IMPORTANT: Some seeds that are treated with insecticide may
be covered with talc applied commercially. John Deere
graphite provides dry lubrication. Some types are on oil base and
will build-up sticky residue on components. Graphite does not eliminate
the need to carry out regular and correct lubrication as indicated
in the lubrication tables.
NOTE: Any additive to seed meters besides John Deere powdered
graphite may cause residue to build up on components.
When using soybean seeds with an irregular surface or chemically
treated soybean seeds, extra graphite may be regularly added to seeds
in order to improve seed flow in seed meter.
Add graphite powder in the recommended proportion:
|
Graphite Quantity per Seed Box
|
|
Seeds without insecticide treatment
|
Seeds with insecticide treatment
|
|
90 g (3.17 oz)
|
150 g (5.29 oz)
|
Graphite must be properly mixed to seeds preferably before filling
seed boxes. For seeds with insecticide treatment the process of mixing
(seeds and graphite) should be carried out only after applying insecticide.
IMPORTANT: The most important benefits of using graphite powder
are lubrication of seed meters increasing component service life and
better draining of seeds inside seed box.
