Proper Seed Spacing
Choosing the correct seed disk for the seed being planted is
the first step in optimal meter performance. Seed spacing is also
dependent on ground conditions, meter speed and ground speed.
IMPORTANT: The operator may plant at a speed higher than recommended,
but reduced planting precision might occur.
Ground Conditions
The rougher the ground conditions during planting, the more
seed spacing will vary. Slow down in rougher ground conditions to
achieve optimal spacing.
Metering Speed
The higher the metering speed, the more difficult it is to meter
the seed at the optimal spacing. For higher populations, reduce ground
speed to reduce metering speed.
Ground Speed
Ground speed directly affects the in-ground seed spacing precision.
As ground speeds are increased above 8 km/h (5 mph), seed spacing
precision will decrease.
