Adjusting Play between Disks

CQ269020-UN-24MAR06
Disk furrow openers suffer wear during operation. When play
appears between furrow opener disks proceed as follows:
-
Remove disks by removing nuts.
-
Remove the necessary amount of washers (A) so that the disks
are adjusted.
NOTE: The ideal pressure is when the disks are in contact with
little friction.
Offset Disks (B)
When play (X) of more than 1 mm (0.03 in) appears between furrow
openers proceed as follows:
-
Remove disks by removing nuts.
-
Remove the necessary amount of washers (A) so that the disks
are adjusted as specified. Use a feeler gauge to check play (X).
| Item | Measurement | Specification |
|
Play between Offset Disks | Play | 0,5—1 mm (0.02—0.03 in) |
NOTE: Ideal adjustment is when offset disks do not touch each
other as contact between disks would lead to premature wear.
Concentric Disks (C)
In this case there should be direct contact between the two
disks to increase soil attack and prevent earth from entering between
disks.
Place disk sustaining shaft in concentric disk position. Make
sure there is slight contact between disks.
NOTE: Excessive contact between disks would lead to premature
wear.
