CCS Seed Delivery

SymptomProblemSolution

Delivery hoses obstructed.

Foreign matter on seed.

Clean seed.

Tank cap opened with CCS fan rotating.

Wait until CCS fan terminates rotation before removing cap.

Tank cap open or leaking.

Close cap, empty hoses.

Hose is undulated.

Set hose to the most linear routing possible.

Deformed hose.

Replace hose.

Air volume too low.

Increase CCS fan speed.

Foreign matter blocking air system.

Remove hose (without twisting it) from filler neck and remove foreign matter.

High Humidity.

Use more talc and mix seeds well.

Irregular delivery of seeds to row units.

Seed level too low for exact delivery.

CCS feed cups must be covered to deliver seeds.

Feeder screen plugged.

Remove screen and clean.

Overflow elbow plugged.

Remove elbow and clean.

Air volume too low.

Increase CCS tank pressure. See “Adjusting and Checking CCS Vacuum and Pressure”.

Air hose obstructed.

Remove obstruction.

Filler neck obstructed.

Remove hose (without twisting it) from filler neck and remove obstruction.

Covers for sorghum planting in place on feed cups.

Remove covers when not planting sorghum.

Tanks do not empty ay same speed.

Machines with more than one tank may consume more seeds from one of the tanks.

No solution.

No seeds in meter.

Air volume too low.

Check that tank pressure is adjusted to recommended values.

Air hose obstructed.

Clean seed meter and reinstall seed disk. Engage CCS fan and shake meter and hoses. Increase tank pressure - up to 16 in. if necessary - until seeds are expelled easily. If the meter fills with seeds, repeat the procedure until there are no more seeds in the hose.

Check that both tank caps are closed.

Obstruction in feed cups inside tank.

With the parking brake engaged and the transmission in “park” position and the tractor shut down remove the air hose from the tank outlet. Remove all obstructions found.

High Humidity.

Use more talc and mix seeds well.

CCS tank cap open.

Close cap.

Covers for sorghum planting in place on feed cups.

Remove covers when not planting sorghum.

Damaged seeds.

Air volume very high.

Reduce CCS tank pressure.

Add talc.

Dry and old seeds.

Use fresh seeds.

Some rows with excessive populations.

CCS tank empty or with very low seed level.

Fill up tank or redistribute seeds from other CCS tanks.

Very high vacuum level.

Reduce vacuum level.

Incorrect / irregular seed delivery.

Seed level too low for appropriate delivery.

Increase CCS tank pressure.

Foreign matter obstructing seed movement.

Remove obstruction. Use a screen / sieve when filling up tank with seed.

With the parking brake engaged and the transmission in “park” position and the tractor shut down remove the air hose from the tank outlet. Remove all obstructions found.

Seed clots.

Use clean seeds. Use a screen / sieve when filling up tank with seed.

No seed flow.

Delivery hose with seed debris.

Do not raise and lower machine without planting. Continuously engaging and disengaging the fan without planting can cause a build up of seeds.

Set hose to the most linear routing possible to prevent build up of seeds.

Do not operate machine with the majority of the meters without seeds so that no deposits are generated in the hoses. Stop and refill the tank whenever a row is without seeds.

Adjust CCS fan pressure to recommended level.

Cool hydraulic oil.

Wait until oil heats up before adjusting tank pressure.

CCS Fan does not possess constant rotation.

Faulty flow control valve.

Replace valve.

Incorrectly adjusted flow control valve.

Adjust or replace flow control valve.

CCS seed delivery is low.

Deformed seed hose.

Reposition or replace hose. Maintain hoses in a position as close to horizontal as possible.

Foreign matter may be lodged in hose or in manifold.

Locate and remove foreign matter.

Inadequate pressure in tank.

Install caps.

Readjust SCV.

Increase CCS tank pressure.
