Recommendations and Observations Regarding Operation

  • When the soil has absorbed herbicides, the row cleaner working depth should be adjusted in order to minimize ground contact. This will avoid a reduction of herbicide efficiency.
  • The row cleaner should not displace any soil. It should only move crop residue (straw).
  • The row cleaner shows reduced performance at low planting speeds.
  • Do not expect 100% straw cleaning. It would be necessary to remove some soil together with the straw to reach this rate.
  • Seed row cleaning width will depend on ground conditions, seeding depth and speed.
  • If the disks eventually stop rotation, check correct depth and angle adjustments, as planting on stony ground could break or bend disk teeth. Also adjust planter leveling.
  • It is very important to ensure that the planting unit follows the undulating ground correctly.
  • Adjust planting unit pressure set properly, to avoid excessive depth.
  • On light soil or during conventional planting, the planter loses floatation and is prone to sink in. Make sure disks are rotating during planting.
