Track Maintenance and Precautions

  • Check the fixing elements daily (bolts, nuts) for tightness.
  • For the first 100 hours, check the tensioning every 20 working hours. After the first 100 hours, make a check every 50 hours.
  • Check alignment every 100 hours.
  • Retighten shoes every 100 hours.
  • Every 300 hours check wear of support axle and its bushes.
  • In case of shoe reassembly or replacement, note the correct side for mounting the shoe fixing nut. The flat face of the nut must make contact with the link.
  • The chain, guide and drive wheels do not require lubrication.
  • Making curves always to the same side will cause more wear on one steel track than the other. In the event that such a practice cannot be avoided, the steel tracks must be replaced when they are worn
down to about 50%. For such, invert the position of the drive wheel and the support axle.
  • Tensioning must be performed whenever the deflection is outside specifications. With abrasive materials and soils that cause defection to build up, check tensioning more frequently.
  • Do not slip with steel tracks. This will increase wear on shoes much more than on any other component.
  • Use only original components. The use of non-original components will cause the steel track system to be unbalanced and will increase component wear.
  • Visually inspect the equipment daily.
  • Always use the narrowest possible shoe that provides adequate floating.
  • Reverse operation increases wear on bushes and drive wheel. If this happens at high speed, wear will be increased.
