Operation

The beater receives the material from the cylinder and concave and diverts the flow over the straw walker. The adjustable concave extension suspends the product so that the beater diverts it over the front end of the straw walker making use of all the separation area.

Without the concave extension, most of the product would fall directly over the large pan overloading the shoes. With the concave extension it is possible to have only the loose grains fall over the large pan.

Once the straw is deposited onto the straw walker, it is shaken and cast up and backwards. The loose grains drop through the openings on the straw walker grates and flow to the large pan. The straw continues to be cast behind the straw walker to reach the rear part of the combine and fall to the ground.

In this unit there is no threshing action. Therefore, unthreshed grains will remain so, resulting in loss of grain.
