Operation
The cleaning unit is aimed at cleaning the threshed grain and capture the ends of pods, sheaves or ears not totally threshed.
A mixture of grain, humid straw and ends of pods, ears or sheaves drop onto the large pan. This moves back and forth and carries the product to its rear part, where a wire comb separates the grains from the straw, helped by the fan air current. The grains and the heavier straw drop onto the chaffer, which pre-cleans them. The grains and some straw drop onto the sieve. The straw is cast outside the combine and the unthreshed ends go past the chaffer extension and are carried back to the threshing.
The clean grains are sent to the grain tank.
The chaffers and the sieves have alternated movements in opposite directions to ensure greater cleaning efficiency and help avoid build up of straw and clogging.
