Engine Grounding

IMPORTANT: Periodically inspect the condition of the engine ground cable (A) and check the tightness of the attaching nuts.

John Deere engines are seated on rubber dampers inside the machinery. These dampers, as well as reducing noise levels, also electrically insulate the engine. Nevertheless, it is necessary that the engine has a good ground connection, for which reason the ground cable (A) exists.

If this cable is not in perfect working order then the flow of excess current produced by the alternator may be redirected to the engine bearings, causing severe damage to the engine.
