Removing Engine Air Filter
Perform service on the air filter in combines only when the air filter indicator light remains permanently on. The air filter has two filter inserts: filter insert and internal insert.
IMPORTANT:
When cleaning or changing air filter, shut down engine and remove starter key.
Removing Filter Insert:
1.
Remove cover (B) from air filter housing (C) releasing latches (A).
2.
To free filter insert (D) remove nut (E) by turning it counterclockwise, remove also backing washer.
3.
Grip sides of filter insert (D) and pull it out by hand.
4.
Clean inside of housing with a dry rag and afterwards with a rag moistened in water. Also clean gasket on filter element edge.
Removing Internal Insert:
NOTE:
Remove internal insert (F) only when filter insert cleaning is being carried out for the third time.
NEVER clean internal insert. Always replace it if removed.

Unfasten nut (G) by turning it counterclockwise.
2.
To remove internal insert (F), grip it by the sides with your hands and pull it out.
3.
Clean inside of housing with a dry rag and afterwards with a rag moistened in water.
4.
Install a new, genuine internal insert.
IMPORTANT:
NEVER run engine without filters installed.
Use only genuine John Deere parts.
