Adding Coolant

IMPORTANT: Regardless of the season, use only John Deere COOL-GARD coolant in cooling system.

Check condition of coolant mixture before the winter season. Coolant should protect engine against frost down to -36°C (-33°F).

Coolant should be composed by clean fresh water and coolant concentrate in the proportions indicated in "Fuel, Lubricants and Coolant" section.

IMPORTANT: Only top up the radiator when the engine is shut off and cold.

Never use any cooling system additives.

Maintain drain plug (B) half open to let the air leave the system, slowly add coolant until it comes out through plug (B), then close plug.

Fill radiator with coolant, close filler cap (C) and complete filling via filler neck (D) until intermediate level between marks "COLD" and "HOT" is reached. Close cap (D).

Start engine and run it during approximately 5 minutes. Stop engine and wait until engine has cooled down. Check coolant level in expansion tank. If necessary, add coolant to system and repeat procedure until air is eliminated from system.

When engine is cold, coolant level in expansion tank should be up to "COLD" mark.

NOTE: Check system for leaks.
