Automatic Float Control

Float switch (A) has the function to engage automatic mode of header float control system.

Automatic mode initiates when Float return key (D) is pressed.

Float sensitivity adjustment potentiometer (B) determines the pressure the header exerts on the ground.

· Turning counterclockwise - increases ground pressure (lowers header).

· Turning clockwise - reduces ground pressure (raises header).

With potentiometer (B) rotated fully clockwise, there should be 20% of header weight on the ground and 80% should be on feeder house hydraulic cylinder. With the potentiometer rotated fully counterclockwise, 40% of header weight should be on the ground and 60% of header weight should be on the feeder house hydraulic cylinder.

Header sensitivity adjustment potentiometer (C) changes header raise/lower speed to smoothen automatic control system operation.

IMPORTANT: The system can be tested by driving around on uneven ground and observing cylinder pressure on pressure gauge (E). Check system response.

NOTE: Needle (F) moves to the right when feeder house hydraulic cylinder pressure increases.

Float control can be disabled by pressing switch (D) or by actuating AHC through button (C).

The automatic float control ceases to operate whenever one of the manual raise or manual lower keys is pressed. Automatic mode reinitiates when "Return-to-float" key (D) is pressed.

The float control system operates together with the automatic lateral tilt control system.

IMPORTANT: The above description analyzes system operation isolatedly; with the automatic cutting height control key pressed, the break-off/return-to-cut keys change their functions, see "Multi-Function Control Handle Buttons Function".
