Engaging Gears

causym CAUTION: Gear shifting is possible only with multi-function control handle in neutral position.

NOTE: Gear shifting is easier while combine is on plain and level ground.

When the combine is in motion, the gearshift cam is automatically locked in place by a solenoid.

NOTE: In 3rd gear, maximum engine speed is limited to 2250 rpm. Switch (A) reads engine speed and is connected to engine ECU.

IMPORTANT: Check proper solenoid function daily by listening to the solenoid action with the engine shut off, turning key switch ON and OFF in stages I and II. If a defect occurs, consult your John Deere dealer.
