Evaluating Grain Quality

It is possible to evaluate grain quality at different points of your combine. Carry out evaluation at those points where the greatest chance of loss occurs and if necessary readjust combine to adapt it to harvesting and ground conditions.

      • In grain tank.
        • Open inspection window and extract a sample.
        • Should the grain sample include too many cracked grains, check the following points:

        a. Excessive tailings?
        b. Cylinder speed too high?
        c. Is there insufficient concave spacing?

        • At rethreshing.
          • Normally the tailings will consist of head or ear tips that have not been threshed and very small quantities of loose grains, wet straw and straw residue.
          • The amount of crop contained in two elevator paddles should be less than half a handful.

NOTE: Always close the inspection window after the tailings examination.
