Bleeding the Fuel System

Bleed the fuel system:

  • After every filter change.
  • Whenever the fuel tank has run dry.
  • After repair work on the fuel system.
  • If the engine has not been run for a while.

Bleeding is done automatically through the electric transfer pump. This system allows air to escape continually through the fuel return line (A) when ignition is ON.

1. Turn starter key to ON position and wait 20 seconds.
2. Turn starter key OFF and then ON again and allow another 20 seconds for electric transfer pump to complete priming of circuit.
3. Start up engine.

IMPORTANT: If engine does not start after following this procedure, consult a John Deere dealer.
