Clean Out Machine (Periodic)

Cleaning Information

CAUTION:

TS206
TS206-UN-15APR13

ALWAYS wear proper protective equipment when cleaning machine.

IMPORTANT: Crop material and other debris can accumulate in various areas, causing a fire hazard. Direction of wind, type of crop, and crop moisture content can all effect where and how much crop material and debris can accumulate. Inspect and clean these areas throughout the harvest day.

The machine must be inspected periodically throughout the harvest day. Buildup of crop material and other debris must be removed to ensure proper machine function to reduce the risk of fire.

Regular and thorough cleaning of machine combined with other routine maintenance procedures listed in the Operators Manual greatly reduce the risk of fire, chance of costly downtime, and improve machine performance.

Primary areas that must be inspected and cleaned are:

  • Engine compartment
  • Pump drive gear case and hydraulic hoses
  • Wiring harnesses, sensors, and control units
  • Exhaust
  • Cooling tower
  • Fuel tank
  • Crop dividers
  • Base cutter gear case
  • Extractor fans
  • Chopper gear case
  • Elevator
  • Ground drive components
  • Feed rollers

There are other areas that require regular cleaning but these areas provide the greatest impact on fire prevention. Using compressed air can ease cleaning.

Always follow all safety procedures posted on the machine and in the Operators Manual. Before carrying out any inspection or cleaning, always shut OFF engine, set park brake, and remove key.
