The base cutter is a pair of counter-rotating disks with replaceable blades designed to cleanly cut cane at ground level without splitting it. Base cutter rotation directs cane flow upward into the feed rollers with help from the butt-lifter. Base cutter has grease packed leg bearings. Kickers on base cutter legs are replaceable.

Numbers of blades—5 per disk.

The base cutter is available with 4 types of blades—using quality blades on the base cutter, the cane flows into the feed rollers more smoothly, preventing stubble and dirt from entering the harvester. This also provides a cleaner cut and healthier stubble.

  • 6 mm—two cutting edges—short rock blade
  • 6 mm—four cutting edges
  • 4 mm—two cutting edges
  • 4 mm—four cutting edges

The base cutter is available with 3 types of disk:

  • 24”—Standard use in areas while little on no rocks.
  • 22”—Used in areas with lots of rock, allows for a wider gap between the disk for rocks to fall to the ground.
  • 22” Scalloped Disk—Used in muddy areas to prevent mud from building up on the base cutter disks.

Other options are:

  • Breakaway Legs—A fuse is incorporated to allow the leg to break instead of the base cutter gearing.
  • Leg Wraps—Used on the legs to prevent eye damage when cutting seed cane.
  • Leg Kickers—Assists in feeding cane through the base cutter and protects the legs from cane wear.
