NOTE: Use John Deere TY6341 Multi-Purpose SD Polyurea Grease
or John Deere TY25744 Synthetic Grease when greasing feeder house
reverser drive gearcase.
S660 and S670 Machines: Feeder House
Reverser Drive Gearcase (Variable Speed Feeder House) - Run the feeder
house reverser drive till the high speed, sheaves apart. Shut off
engine, set park break and remove key.
CAUTION: Greasing with sheaves together, low speed, cause damage
on Feeder House Reverser Drive Gearcase.
Turn sheave so fittings are in the 12 and 2 o’clock positions.
When operating in severe conditions or high yielding corn, grease
fitting at 12 o’clock position, 5 - 8 pumps every 10 hours.
Excess grease purges from under spring.
Grease fitting at 2 o’clock position, 2 - 3 pumps every
10 hours. Over greasing this fitting can allow grease to purge on
belt and cause belt failure.
When operating in normal conditions, grease 12 o’clock
fitting (10 - 15 times) and 2 o’clock fitting (5 - 8 times)
every 50 hours. After greasing, cycle variable sheaves through speed
range a couple of times to ensure grease spreads evenly over cam surfaces.
IMPORTANT: When using cut platform, the greasing must be done
every 50 hours.
