Understanding Optional Variable Core FeatureThe BaleTrak™ Pro system uses an optional VARIABLE (SOFT) CORE feature to lower the core density of the bale or may improve bale starting in long, stiff, cane-type crops. This feature uses the monitor-controller in conjunction with the bale diameter sensor (A) and solenoid valve (B) ( located on the tensioning control valve ) to reduce hydraulic pressure at the rod end side of the tension/gate cylinders. The diameter of the soft core can be adjusted 32-56 in. (81-142 cm) and is set by entering the desired core dimension into the monitor-controller. NOTE: The conditions set by the operator will revert back to initial settings when monitor-controller is reset. The initial setting for the variable core is 36 in. (91 cm). Pushing the VARIABLE CORE DIAMETER button on the monitor-controller energizes the variable core solenoid. The energized solenoid routes the oil from rod end of tension/gate cylinders through the low pressure relief valve, then back to the base end of the tension/gate cylinders. The lower pressure allows a looser bale to form initially. When the bale size reaches the variable core diameter setting ( preset by operator ), the monitor-controller de-energizes the solenoid. At this point, oil from rod end of tension/gate cylinders is routed through the adjustable pressure relief valve, then back to the base end of the tension/gate cylinders. Bale formation is then completed at the higher relief pressure. The higher pressure forms tighter and denser outer bale layers. The tractor selector control valve lever must be in the neutral position. If the SCV lever is in the float position, the variable core feature will not work. |
