Bale Ramp Difficulties

Symptom Problem Solution

Ramp engages too quickly or too late.

Regulator valve needs adjustment.

Adjust. (See ADJUSTING BALE RAMP in Operating the Baler section.)

Bale sticks in chamber.

New baler.

Make several bales out of dry hay to polish sidesheets. Do not crowd ends so finished bale has soft ends.

Excessive sidesheet friction caused by "gummy" buildup on sidesheets.

Remove buildup. Be sure gate deflectors are installed in gate.

Bale ramp-to-gate timing needs adjustment.

Adjust. (See ADJUSTING BALE RAMP in Operating the Baler section.)

Bale will not roll back far enough.

Baler operating in lower position.

Raise baler or remove bale ramp. (See WHEEL SPINDLE POSITIONS in Preparing the Baler section.)

Bale ramp moves up too soon.

Regulator valve incorrectly adjusted.

Adjust by turning valve inward. (See ADJUSTING BALE RAMP in Operating the Baler section.)

Gate lock valve not fully unlocked.

Be sure snap ring on gate lock spool is against valve housing.

Bale ramp does not tilt.

Inadequate tractor hydraulic pressure.

Bale ramp requires 15169 kPa (151.7 bar) (2200 psi) minimum hydraulic pressure.

Regulator valve adjusted incorrectly.

Open valve 1/4 turn and try operating bale ramp again. (See ADJUSTING BALE RAMP in Operating the Baler section.)
