Cutterbar and Gear Case-Changing Oil
Mower will need to be attached to tractor to change cutterbar and gear case oil.
Park mower on level ground with cutterbar in field/operating (horizontal) position.
Run machine to warm oil.
Raise cutterbar to transport (vertical) position. (See Transporting section.)
Put a container under end of cutterbar and gear case.
Remove check/fill plug (A) and magnetic drain plug (B) to drain oil.
After all oil is drained, clean all metal particles from magnetic drain plug, and reinstall.
Do not overfill. Excessive oil will cause overheating and serious damage to cutterbar.
If cutterbar is to be operated at angles in excess of +20 degrees or -10 degrees from the horizontal for long periods of time, reduce oil quantity in cutterbar by 25 percent.
Cutterbar oil capacity is as follows:
Add SAE 80W with API service classification GL-4, or equivalent, until oil is level with bottom of check/fill port. (See CUTTERBAR AND GEAR CASE OIL in this section.)
Apply pipe sealant with TEFLON
, or equivalent, on threads of check/fill plug (A).
Install check/fill plug.
