Every 200 Hours
Cutterbar and Gear Case-Changing Oil
NOTE:
Mower will need to be attached to tractor to change cutterbar and gear case oil.
1.
Park mower on level ground with cutterbar in field/operating (horizontal) position.
2.
Run machine to warm oil.
3.
Raise cutterbar to transport (vertical) position. (See Transporting section.)
4.
Put a container under end of cutterbar and gear case.
5.
Remove check/fill plug (A) and magnetic drain plug (B) to drain oil.
6.
After all oil is drained, clean all metal particles from magnetic drain plug, and reinstall.
IMPORTANT:
Do not overfill. Excessive oil will cause overheating and serious damage to cutterbar.
If cutterbar is to be operated at angles in excess of +20 degrees or -10 degrees from the horizontal for long periods of time, reduce oil quantity in cutterbar by 25 percent.
NOTE:
Cutterbar oil capacity is as follows:
7.
Add SAE 80W with API service classification GL-4, or equivalent, until oil is level with bottom of check/fill port. (See CUTTERBAR AND GEAR CASE OIL in this section.)
8.
Apply pipe sealant with TEFLON
®
, or equivalent, on threads of check/fill plug (A).
9.
Install check/fill plug.
