Installing and Synchronizing Disks and Converging Disk/Cones

IMPORTANT: Each disk must be installed at right angles to the adjoining disk. This is known as synchronization.

Replace disk-to-cutterbar-locking cap screws after removing and installing five times.

NOTE: Disk life can be extended by moving a disk to a location of opposite rotation. (See INTERCHANGING DISKS in this section.)

1. Clean mounting surface of foreign materials and install spacer plate (A) (if removed).

2. Install disk or converging disk/cone in its original position.

3. Disks ; Install two special washers, concave side facing down, and locking cap screws. Tighten cap screws to specifications.

Converging disks/cones ; Install four special washers, concave side facing down, and locking cap screws. Tighten cap screws to specifications.

4. Disks ; Install cover, two special washers, concave side facing down, and locking cap screws. Tighten cap screws to specifications.

Disks, Covers and Converging Disks/Cones -Torque 122 N·m (90 lb-ft)

Converging disks/cones ; Install cap and four cap screws.

5. Remove wood block.

6. Rotate disks several times by hand to check synchronization. Make sure there is no interference between knives.

7. Lower pivoting cover support. (See RAISING/LOWERING PIVOTING COVER SUPPORT in Operating the Mower section.)
