Adjusting Twine Tension (328)

NOTE: Sisal twine in springy hay may need slightly more than 45 N (10 lb force) of pull.

1. Raise needles until twine guide rivet is even with top of twine disk.

2. Attach spring scale (A) to twine as shown. Tension of twine as it is pulled from twine box should be within specifications.

3. Tension is controlled by a spring-loaded tension plate (A). Adjust using twine tension adjusting nut (B).

  • Tighten adjusting nut to increase tension on twine.
  • Loosen adjusting nut to decrease tension on twine.
