Adjusting Knotter Gears

NOTE: If necessary, cut out washers without removing shaft.

1. Adjust the intermittent knotter gear against billhook pinion by shifting washers (A) on needle lift shaft (B).

Washers between the gear and knotter frame must be loose enough to rotate by hand, but not exceeding a maximum width of 0.76 mm (0.030 in.) in this area.

2. Clearance between the flat side of the twine disk pinion (A) and intermittent knotter gear (C) must be within distance (B) as specified.

Specification

Twine Disk Pinion-to-Intermittent Knotter Gear -Distance 0.0-0.38 mm (0.000-0.015 in.) (0.0 Preferred)

If the twine disk pinion is more than maximum amount, file the flat surface of billhook pinion (D). Check washer clearance (Step 1). Do the same to the twine disk pinion if the billhook pinion is not against the intermittent knotter gear (E).
