Adjusting Bale Weight

causym CAUTION: Disengage PTO and shut off tractor engine before making adjustment.

IMPORTANT: Bales too tight or too heavy cause excessive strain on the baler, contributing to undue breakage and wear of parts and also breakage of twine or wire.

Bale weight is regulated by bale chamber tension. Adjust using tension crank (A) and side resisters, or hydraulic pump knob and side resisters.

Bale weight is also affected by size of windrows, moisture content, and quality of the hay. These factors may vary from hour to hour or from windrow to windrow. Check bale weight regularly.

Loosen bale tension at the end of each day's operation.

NOTE: Hydraulic bale tension is optional. If so equipped, see ADJUSTING BALE WEIGHT WITH HYDRAULIC BALE TENSION in this section.
