Symptom Problem Solution

Plungerhead hitting feeder teeth at top of case.

Out of time.

Retime plunger and feeder. (See TIMING THE BALER in Service section.)

Baler stalls when plungerhead is even with rear side of feed opening.

Dull knives and/or plungerhead out of adjustment.

Sharpen knives and/or adjust plungerhead. (See ADJUSTING PLUNGERHEAD in Service section.)

Baler stalls on compression stroke.

Baling too heavy.

Loosen bale tension. Reduce ground speed. (See ADJUSTING TWINE TENSION in Operating the Baler section.)

Plungerhead obstructed.

causym CAUTION: Disengage all power, shut off engine, and wait until all moving parts have stopped.

Remove obstruction.

Baler fails to start after being stalled on compression stroke.

Plungerhead obstructed.

causym CAUTION: Disengage all power, shut off engine, and wait until all moving parts have stopped.

IMPORTANT: Be sure needles are in "home" position before turning flywheel by hand to avoid machine damage.

Turn flywheel in clockwise direction for two or three revolutions; then engage PTO.

Hay not feeding under auger.

Auger drive V-belt slipping.

Adjust V-belt. (See ADJUSTING AUGER DRIVE BELT in Service section.)

Rear of compressor rods set too high.

Adjust rear of compressor rod. (See ADJUSTING COMPRESSOR RODS in Operating the Baler section.)

Crop not getting into bale chamber.

Plugging at feed opening.

causym CAUTION: Disengage all power, shut off engine, and wait until all moving parts have stopped.

Replace shear bolt if necessary. Hand turning the flywheel can aid in dislodging wedged crop. (See REPLACING KNOTTER AND NEEDLE DRIVE SHEAR BOLT in Operating the Baler section.)

Broken bales.

Rebaling broken bales.

causym CAUTION: Disengage all power, shut off engine, and wait until all moving parts have stopped.

Remove twine or wire. Pull flakes apart and scatter into windrow for rebaling.
