Power Drive Difficulties

Symptom Problem Solution

Main drive slip clutch slips excessively during normal operation.

Slip clutch cap screw loose.

Adjust clutch cap screw. (See ADJUSTING SLIP CLUTCH in Service section.)

Shear cap screw sheared in flywheel.

Replace shear bolt. (See REPLACING FLYWHEEL SHEAR BOLT in Operating the Baler section.)

Clutch facings glazed. Oil or grease on facings.

Clean or replace facings.

Exceeding baler capacity.

Make 12 to 18 charges into a 36 in. bale. (See STARTING AND OPERATING THE BALER in Operating the Baler section.)

Powershaft will not telescope correctly.

Tractor drawbar not installed correctly.

Install drawbar correctly.

Powershaft bent or twisted.

Replace.

Powershaft vibrates excessively.

Powershaft bent or twisted.

Replace.

Tractor operating at an excessive angle.

Check hookup dimensions. (See Preparing the Tractor section.)

Powershaft cross bearings worn.

Replace bearings.

Powershaft will not stay engaged.

Splines on tractor yoke worn.

Replace yoke.
