Adjusting Bale Weight with Hydraulic Bale Tension
If machine is equipped with optional hydraulic bale tension control, bale weight is controlled by the adjusting knob (A) on the pump. If making this adjustment for the first time, remove hydraulic tension completely (turn knob counterclockwise) then increase tension by approximately 1-1/2 turns (turn knob clockwise). When increasing or decreasing bale tension, make adjustment by turning knob no more than 1/2 turn. Once knob has been set, continual readjustment will not be necessary under most conditions.
CAUTION:
Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury.
Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure.
Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high pressure fluids.
If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.
IMPORTANT:
Keep oil clean, free of dust, water, and sealing compound.
Periodically check the oil level in the hydraulic reservoir (B). For maximum compression control, the oil must be at the level mark on the reservoir when the hydraulic cylinder is completely depressed. If necessary, add John Deere HY-GARD
®
Transmission/Hydraulic Oil to maintain that level. (See Lubrication and Maintenance section.)
