Aligning Driveline

A number of factors contribute to driveline vibration in turns, such as wear of drawbar holes, front and rear tractor tire sizes, wear on top of the drawbar, bent drawbar and wear on the MoCo hitch.

The following procedure will help reduce driveline vibrations in turns.

Before proceeding with this process ensure the following items are not the cause of the driveline vibration;

  • Front and rear U-joints (A) are not worn.
  • Drawbar (B) is properly positioned. (See POSITIONING TRACTOR DRAWBAR in the PREPARING THE TRACTOR section.)
  • Hitch (C) is properly adjusted. (See ADJUSTING MOWER-CONDITIONER HITCH in the PREPARING THE MOWER-CONDITIONER section.)

11. Note the distance between the underside (A) of the hitch (C) and top (B) of the drawbar.

NOTE: If required hitch adjustment is out of range, it will be necessary to order and install (STEPS 13-16) a clevis support channel and related hardware from service parts through your John Deere dealer.

12. Adjust hitch (C) to the dimension noted in STEP 11 . (See ADJUSTING MOWER-CONDITIONER HITCH in the PREPARING THE MOWER-CONDITIONER section.)
